Dear Dr. Norman:

It was good to see you.  Wish you could have been with us more.  Wish I had been able to show you around.  But my health is really very poor.  I saw the signs you put up.  One had canted.  I straightened it.

I have read the Cross and the Flag.  Is not Gerald L.K. Smith a fascist?  Seems like I read something about him.  Such stuff is very depressing to me.  I do not believe we are in that bad shape?  Do you?  I mean everything seems to come out all right.  I think these present troubles will pass away.

You have the perfect formula for handling troubles.  Get out and tack up a few signs.  If more of us would work more, brood less, most of our troubles would go away.

We cannot solve anything.  We can try.  But if we will try, and leave it there, things would be better.  But when we insist on changing things, we usually mess up.

We ought to let change take care of itself.  Change does not need help.  It needs understanding.

Hope you had a safe journey home.  I see my coordination is getting bad.  That cerebral left some lasting damage.  My memory is no good.  I cannot remember who I am at times.  I forget what I say.  I forget to answer letters.  I forget everything.  How to spell.  Little things like that.

I am glad you stopped by to see me.  My Pa and brother were glad to see you, too.  If you ever come by here again, stop by.

Will you give Mrs. Norman my regards.  Take care of yourself.  And with best wishes, I also wish you good luck.  For your, and all of yours.  May goodness bless you.

Sincerely your friend, Eddie H. Livingston
