Route 4 Box 457 Dothan, Alabama 18 Dec. 1962
Mr. Neil R. Smart, Manager Montgomery (Ala.) V.A.
It took me two months to get a simple hospital application form from your agency. I want to impress one thing upon you. I am an American Citizen; I am a combat disabled veteran. My Veterans' benefits as provided by Law, are identical to my civil and human rights.
If you think I am going to sit idily by and let you and your agency deprive me of every right that is mine, you had better take another think.
My health was seriously jeopardized because your agency arbitrarily denied me a simple hospital application form.
I have asked for, at least 100 times, V.A. hospital and doctor findings, findings that I am fully entitled to, by Law.
You ought to talk with one of those high-priced V.A. attorneys and let him tell you how serious messing with my rights, arbitrarily, is.
I have begged, pled, asked; but my patience is about gone. I am not sure yet just what it will take to get my V.A. affairs properly considered, but they are going to be, I can promise you that.
I am sick and tired of being harassed, hell-hacked, cursed, abused, insulted, threatened.
I want those hospital findings of 7 Aug. 1962, the findings of Dr. Corson of 31 Jan 1962.
I want my dental authorization extended until Dr. Davis, my dentist, resumes work, returns from his sick spell.
I want my V.A. compensation restored to the $269 monthly that Washington V.A. approved. And I do not tell me Washington V.A. did not authorize and approve, $269 monthly, I am reading the paper on it, by Washington V.A. as I dictate this letter.
I am going to do my best to straighten up Montgomery (Ala.) V.A. That agency is going to either handle my V.A. affairs promptly and properly, or we will get an agency that can and will. You People need to read V.A. Law, rules, regulations. You cannot arbitrarily deny me my rights.
And killing me will not solce your problems. I am going to put a stop to that ROTTEN business.
